Dear First Grade Families,
A bit about me...Top of Page
My name is Neal Krogstad, and this is my twelth year at Gallatin Gateway School! I started out teaching Kindergarten at GGS, then got to move into first grade in 2013. During my first year of teaching, I taught a second and third grade combination classroom in Fortine, Montana. While I miss having Glacier National Park in my backyard, I will gladly trade it for the wild animals of Yellowstone National Park!
Little did I know that there would be gators in Montana! I was born near gators in New Orleans, Louisiana and it seems fitting that I am now a proud Gator at Gallatin Gateway School! I grew up in St. Louis, received my Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville in Indiana then moved to Denver, Colorado, where I met my husband. I started my education degree in Denver and graduated from Montana State University in 2008. Go Cats!
I have had a lifelong love of teaching and working with children. My first teaching assignment was at home among my students (stuffed animals), and my principal was my mom. A lot has changed from those days. I have served as a Special Education Learning Specialist for five years in Louisville, Colorado and also served as a child care director and a summer camp director for elementary aged kids. I was also a Lifeguard and swimming instructor for 15 years. Kids have always been a part of my life and I look forward to going to work every day!
I am married and just had a bouncing baby boy, Jesse, in December of 2019. I also have four kids of the furry 4 legged variety (three cats and one dog). I enjoy spending time, at home, on my husband’s family farm with my garden. Please call or email me with any questions you may have! I look forward to working with you and your student!
